Abstract:
The article presents empirical evidence supporting a causal relationship between education and risk attitudes using representative data from representative surveys and pilot or field laboratory experiments in Lima, Peru. The results suggest that this relationship may be causal, as we use an identification strategy that exploits the exogenous new school building boom in Lima, providing evidence that higher levels of education can increase risk appetite.
