Abstract:
We propose the reconceptualization of inclusive early childhood education to encourage more meaningful and sustainable progress for all children, families, and practitioners. First, we describe challenges that persist in early childhood even though incremental progress has been made through inclusion. Then, we discuss possibilities why these challenges have not dwindled. Finally, we draw from theory to provide a new perspective for thinking about practice in early childhood through inclusive education. And yet, we can move forward to ensure that practitioners provide high-quality, appropriate, and culturally sustaining education for all young children and their families through practice
