Abstract:
The idealized presentation of society in China, as well as the idealization of cinema in drama films of one of the first Chinese film companies, the Lianhua Film Company (1930-1937), manifested national identity in a certain way. The company has created a number of vivid cinematic interpretations of current reality and offered its own version of utopia. The companys activities fell on the period before the Japanese invasion and is closely associated with the ideological struggle with the likely invaders. The analysis was carried out both on the basis of the study of the visual text of the films, and on the basis of written historical sources documenting the activities of the company and its figures.
