Abstract:
In the study, household vulnerability to coal mining operations is assessed using two indicators, namely the Livelihood Vulnerability Index (LVI) and the Livelihood Impact Index (LEI) in actively mining and non-coal mining villages of the Talcher coalfield in Angula. Odisha district, India. The results show that households in a mining village are more prone to various environmental problems, and therefore they need to take adequate measures to cope with the problems resulting from mining.
