Abstract:
The article analyzes the efforts of regulators to strengthen public trust in charities by promoting and implementing regulation that increases the requirements for accountability and transparency. A legal perspective on regulation and trust (Colombo, 20XX) is combined with institutional working theory (Lawrence & Suddaby, 20XX) to analyze interviews with New Zealand philanthropic regulators and standards makers. The results show the reflex processes and methods of building trust by regulators and reveal the complex and complex dynamics of building trust between regulators, charities and the general public.
