Abstract:
Previous research has demonstrated that Distributional Semantic Models (DSMs) are capable of reconstructing maps from news corpora and novels. This paper investigates the underlying mechanisms of this process to explain how it can be done. We also highlight what statistical sources are required to infer maps, and the resulting constraints placed on mechanisms of semantic representation.
Keywords:
Embodiment; Semantic memory; Spatial cognition; Vector-space models
