Abstract:
The article analyzes the theory based on data from Hare et al. (20XX) to explain the consumption of goods that have a low-order attribute (such as taste) and a high-level attribute (such as health). The results show that one brain system that has access to a low-order attribute calculates a target consumption value, while another brain system can modulate that value for a fee by transmitting information regarding the high-order attribute. In addition, the article defines the optimal modulation and consumption strategy depending on the cost of information transmission and the environment. Practical application and prospects for further research are explained by the fact that the model can be used to study problems such as eating disorders, bias, habit formation and compulsive behavior.
