Abstract:
This chapter examines processes that shape successful innovation, exploring the theoretical foundations and research in innovation in education programs. As new dialogues between scholars in literary and cultural studies evolve and new directions for content knowledge in second-language teacher education (SLTE) programs are considered, we need to understand how innovation develops in the midst of established practices. What conditions guarantee this shift? How can change be sustained? Rather than suggesting patches and adjustments to existing solutions, the chapter explains strategies that can introduce and consolidate fundamental change in institutes of higher education, especially in curricula of SLTE programs and their literary and cultural components.
