Abstract:
In this study, we discuss cases when racial groups become associated with a particular presidential candidate, who either won or lost the election. We explored how these racial groups negotiate their racial identity to contend with group-image threat arising from the association between their racial ingroup and the said candidate. In addition, we explain why such individuals decide to disidentify from their racial ingroup.
