Abstract:
Using a cross-lagged longitudinal design, the present study assessed the relationship between depression and beliefs about one’s emotional experience among adolescents. Current findings suggest that more negative beliefs about emotion, specifically, beliefs about the unacceptability of experiencing or expressing emotions emerge following depressive symptoms.
