Abstract:
With the help of interviews and photovoice, we discussedd the experience of gender transitioning and gender affirmation for trans women of color, associated with the risk of social exclusion or violence. The following themes were identifed: ‘Gender affirmation: A bittersweet experience’, ‘Being a trans woman of color’, and ‘Hormones, surgical intervention and navigating the health system’.
