Abstract:
This paper examines the relationship between teen parenthood and high school dropout taking gender, socioeconomic status, and sociodemographic characteristics in consideration. The results show that the educational setback of parenthood for women is about twice as high as the setback of men. Based on these findings, high schools are recommended to adopt policies and interventions to reduce adolescent fertility and facilitate high school completion of teenage parents, especially mathers.
