Abstract:
Using the qualitative interview methos, this paper aims to understand barriers to and methods for engaging physicians and seriously ill patients in research activities. Concepts and key ideas within the patient/physician responses were identified through thematic analysis. Findings demonstrate that although patients prefer that their physicians recruit them for health-related research, physicians identify time constraints as a consistent barrier to research involvement.
