Abstract:
We examine the importance of patient involvement in the treatment of heavy menstrual bleeding. Given the variance in implications associated with the possible causes of the symptom, potential therapeutic interventions and available prognostic data, there are multiple treatment options that are reasonable when the diagnosis is uncertain or known. We suggest that it is important to provide women with a clear overview of options, elicit their preferences and integrate those into the treatment plan.
