Abstract:
An approach to numerical simulation of the flows of rarefied gas mixtures on the basis of direct solution of the Boltzmann kinetic equation is proposed. Software for simulating the rarefied gas flows based on the proposed approach was developed. Numerical simulation of a two-dimensional argon-neon gas mixture outflow from an instantly opened slit into vacuum was performed. Graphs of time evolution of output flow rates of the mixture components, and flow fields in steady-state regime were computed. Unsteady areas of strong gas mixture components separation were discovered.
