Abstract:
Quality management (QM) can be either explorative or exploitative. While QM in innovative building projects is largely explorative, it is still less understood how explorative quality management (EQM) is handled. Grounded upon the resilience theory, this study aims to examine how the resilience framework deals with EQM in innovative building projects. This is illustrated by a case study of a precast concrete building project. A resilience framework combining four interconnected strategies—planning, monitoring, responding, and learning—was developed. This study contributes to project quality management literature by proposing a resilience framework to deal with the EQM.
