Abstract:
The study addresses the topic of developing the necessary empathy in the work of a designer and striking a balance between design creativity and empathy. Through quasi-experimental design, with 50 designers with relatively little experience, two specialized methods of structured thinking were explored to generate bad and useless ideas before ideas that were useful and based on empathy were formulated. As a result, two real design assignments were completed. Participants who generated humiliation ideas were found to be more likely to generate ideas that were marked by both creativity and empathy.
