Abstract:
Exploring the limits and definitions of a work of art and the definition of art lead to the need to define artistic judgment. S. Kavell and T. de Duve consider the definition of an object as art as a reflective aesthetic judgment that needs a general agreement on grounds outside of any particular concept of art. The recognition of an object as a work of art is an integral part of the aesthetic interaction with it. The article is devoted to a comparative analysis of the positions of both researchers, comparing their approaches to artistic experience and resolving the contradiction between modernist and postmodern positions in defining a work of art.
