Abstract:
Facilitating access to comics, which would normalize the familiarity and dissemination of the contributions of previously marginalized groups, is very important and has been a concern for librarians for half a century. Developing comic collections that include a Black theme, which includes famous characters like the Fox and Black Panther, as well as African American comic creators, becomes much easier with tags. Tags such as the way of drawing, the character, the story arc of the comic, greatly increase their availability. The use of metadata based on demographics and search history allows for increased access to specialized collections of comics from the African diaspora, often published in the same issue, as well as from other cultures. Expansion of access occurs through the expansion of metadata through the participation of society in their definition.
