Abstract:
The importance of collective initiatives related to the collaboration of citizens for joint repair or production is increasing. DIY citizen initiatives leverage the knowledge and resources available to a community that best understands local needs. Such initiatives are characterized by weaknesses in terms of long-term support from state and municipal institutions. The study of one of the well-known initiatives from the point of view of representatives of the institutional authorities and organizers of the initiative gives a voluminous assessment of the problem. DIY initiatives link the actions and resources of specific citizens, and at the same time require additional resources in the form of bureaucratic support, physical space, insurance policies, legal legitimacy. The source of resources is state and municipal institutions, which also receive bonuses from DIY initiatives. The exchange of competences should be mutually beneficial and take the form of a persistent dialogue. This will make generative renovation programs longer term and give them the form of modern collaborative municipal design.
