Abstract:
This article examines the impact of coal mining on financial, physical, human, natural and social capital and how these capitals affect rural livelihood practices in the Sonepur Bazari open pit coal mining area of the Raniganj coalfield in West Bengal, India. . The results show that mining activities have both positive and negative impacts on rural communities.
