Abstract:
Corporate governance literature highlights the importance of board characteristics related to firm innovation. The results show that certain aspects of boards, such as frequency of meetings and the proportion of independent directors and outsiders, show the most significant correlation with firm innovation, but levels of communication vary depending on whether innovation is measured as inputs or outputs, and also depending on the sample and methodology used.
