Abstract:
The study explores the female inefficiency hypothesis in a cross-country analysis of Schumpeterian entrepreneurs. It then examines whether there is a gender dimension to the contribution of Schumpeters firm to economic growth. The results show that, on a non-parametric analysis, women-owned entrepreneurial firms in developed countries perform similarly to male-owned firms, while male-owned firms significantly outperform female-owned firms in developing countries.
