Abstract:
The study proposes an auction mechanism that determines the positioning of a leader and a follower along with the corresponding benefits to facilitate the formation and maintenance of the behavioral stability of vehicle platoons in a distributed manner. The results show that there is no mechanism to achieve an efficient outcome in an ex post equilibrium requiring individual rationality and budget balance.
