Abstract:
The study shows that the breadth of a young firms client portfolio is an important driver of business model change, especially in the earliest and most uncertain stages of an industrys development. The results highlight the value of customers as sources of knowledge in emerging industries and suggest that when making decisions about establishing and strengthening customer relationships, entrepreneurs should consider the number and variety of these relationships in the context of the maturity of the young firms industry segment.
