Abstract:
This article examines the impact of migrant remittances and institutional quality on financial development in developing countries and tests the hypothesis that institutional quality influences the impact of remittances on financial development. The results show that in countries with stronger institutions, remittances are transferred more efficiently and effectively to promote financial development than in countries with weaker institutions.
