Abstract:
The article examines the relationship between the duration of takeover negotiations, competition and learning, focusing on the private phase of transactions initiated by bidders. Using a dynamic programming approach with discrete time and a finite horizon, we derive equilibrium relationships between negotiation duration, potential competition pressure, and learning process.
