Abstract:
In recent years, the liberal international economic order has faced serious legitimacy problems. The article examines these challenges in a historical context through a systematic analysis of rhetorical challenges both to the order itself and to specific global economic institutions. The results show that overt criticism of the liberal order is at an all-time low and threats to leave remain rare.
