Abstract:
The article presents original evidence from institutional investors that political uncertainty strongly influences investment behavior. The results show that institutions significantly reduce their holdings by 0.8-2.3 percentage points during presidential election years. The results also demonstrate that institutions are financially benefiting from the observed strategy, and such a strategy is consistent with the predicted results of the presidential polls.
