Abstract:
The article analyzes the impact of investments in research and development (R&D) on the export performance of Canadian agri-food small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and related sectors, namely the textile and clothing industry and the production of leather goods and similar products. The results show that the size of firms and their support from the Canadian government influences their propensity to invest in R&D, as well as the size and intensity of R&D spending, measured as the ratio of R&D to sales of goods and services.
