Abstract:
The article, based on the practical experience of high-frequency telephone interviews supported by the World Bank Living Standards Measurement Survey (LSMS) to Monitor the Socioeconomic Impact of the COVID-19 Pandemic, provides an overview of options for developing and conducting telephone interviews to collect representative data from households and individuals. In addition, the discussion identifies the requirements for telephone surveys, which should be the backbone of the tools for national statistical offices, and directions for future research on the design and implementation of telephone surveys.
