Abstract:
The article used data from four NHANES surveys, conducted from 20XX to 20XX, to compare the nutritional and dietary quality of home foods (FAH) of current SNAP participants with two types of participants in the past - more recent and less recent - and eligible non-participants. Three baseline measures of FAH diet quality were also examined: USDAs Healthy Nutrition Index (HEI), Nutrient Profile-Based Index, and Calorie Density Index. The results show that participation in the SNAP program does not affect the quality of the FAH diet.
