Abstract:
The article analyzes how the local institutionalization of global standards has shaped national and subnational environmental management structures or regional concepts of power. The results show that the introduction of the RSPO standards brought about three major changes in the management of palm oil production within the country: 1) the technicalization of the relationship between society and the company, 2) the hybridization of management coalitions, and 3) the regionalization of management efforts.
