Abstract:
The article uses a Markov chain model to predict the pattern of primary energy consumption and test whether the carbon intensity target will be met under three scenarios with different rates of economic growth. Markov chain predictions show that energy restructuring can help us achieve our carbon intensity targets by 2030 in both sustainable and medium speed scenarios. Modeling results using the DSGE model show that energy restructuring can also smooth out the volatility of economic fluctuations when exogenous stochastic shocks occur.
