Abstract:
The article analyzes the role of migrants in the problem of selling seaweed in Malaysia. The methodology is based on a mixed method of analysis of key informant interviews, questionnaires and document analysis, as well as on the conceptual basis of the VCA-New Institutional Environment-Structure (NIES). The results indicate that migrants play a significant role in exploration and production activities, contributing significantly to the cultivation of algae, but they face a number of legal, financial and institutional constraints that limit their productivity and participation in marketing activities.
