Abstract:
The article analyzes data on commodity market exposure, that is, the impact of fluctuations in commodity prices and terms of trade on macroeconomic performance in 46 emerging market and developing countries (EMDC) in Africa, Asia and Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC). The results show that, in general, there is a strong and statistically significant long-term relationship between the vector of the analyzed world trade prices and the macro variables in all EMDCs. The results also show that commodity market exposure varies across countries, regions, and especially in terms of exposure.
