Abstract:
The article analyzes the economics of carbon capture through the prism of path dependence and self-fulfilling expectations. The established base creates a trajectory-dependent effect that encourages prospective households to continue to join the current dirty regime rather than switch to a clean alternative. Switching can be the result of an expectation based choice if expectations are generated for an expanding net mode that outweighs the path dependent effect.
