Abstract:
The article explores the problem of pricing by a large electricity company in Costa Rica. The results show that the program reduces consumption during peak hours. The program has been found to increase overall consumption. A key element of the model is that the previous study used data from rich countries where heating and cooling devices affect energy consumption, but we are using data from a tropical middle-income country where very few households have heating or cooling devices.
