Abstract:
The article analyzes the effectiveness of non-pharmaceutical interventions (NPIs) against COVID-19 in the allocation of scarce resources in the Scandinavian hospital sector. The results show that Denmark and Norway have introduced strict NPOs, but Sweden has taken an extremely lenient approach. The baseline variables initially follow the general trend, but diverge 2-3 weeks after the lockdown. Both the onset time of the effect and the similarity of trends between Denmark and Norway are fully consistent with the causal effect of the lockdown.
