Abstract:
The article analyzes the potential distributional implications of the first phase of COVID-19 quarantine on poverty and labor income inequality in 20 Latin American and Caribbean (LAC) countries. The results show that social distancing measures have increased inequality both between and within countries. Moreover, much of the variation in labor income losses across countries is due to the sectoral / occupational structure of employment in the economy.
