Abstract:
The article points out that immigration policy affects peoples willingness to report crime. The study used data from the Dallas Police Department, which includes the ethnicity of the applicants, to show that violent and property crimes reported to the police by Hispanics increased by 4 percent after the introduction of PEP. These results suggest that reducing law enforcement against individuals who do not pose a threat to public safety has the potential to increase trust between immigrant communities and the police.
