Abstract:
This article examines the direct investment of Chinese multinational enterprises (MNEs) in Laos. The methodology is based on a survey of nine Chinese enterprises seeking market and resources in Laos. The results show that Chinese multinational enterprises are not indifferent to the deteriorating institutional quality of host countries; relationship effect and institutional distance are location decisions, together with which institutional factors influence the investments of Chinese multinationals in Laos.
