Abstract:
The article analyzes the influence of ideology on initiatives (partnerships and project development) in countering climate change. The study is based on a database of 389 projects related to reducing emissions from deforestation and forest degradation. The methodology is represented by a quantitative analysis and four case studies of projects in Colombia and Peru. The results show how environmental ideology shapes the preferences of project developers with respect to project development and partners. Nongovernmental responses to climate change both reinforce the neoliberal ideological status quo of climate policy and offer critical ideologies a foothold. The practical significance and prospects for further research are based on the possibility of using the developed platform and program of ideology research in actions in countering climate change.
