Abstract:
Bioeconomics is currently being used for decarbonization and analyzed as a way to address current socio-ecological crises. The purpose of the study is to analyze how overlapping legal and regulatory institutions ensure forest-dependent communities have access to land in forest reserves for food and other livelihoods using a case study from Ghana. The study showed that government and traditional institutions are seeking to allow forest communities to access forest reserve lands in order to strengthen their authority over the area. In the emerging bioeconomy, the state uses forest plantations as a tool to strengthen its control.
