Abstract:
Russias active foreign policy in the Middle East is multi-vector in nature, which dictates the need to build strategic relationships with influential regional actors. One of the promising areas of bilateral cooperation is ecological interaction. In April 2021, in a telephone conversation, the political leadership of the two countries, amid a discussion of topical issues of Russian-Saudi cooperation, paid special attention to the prospects for joint measures to address global climate change and environmental protection, including green energy. During the conversation, they discussed Saudi Arabias current initiatives aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions in the Middle East region, greening territories, and increasing the share of renewable energy sources. In the context of the bilateral initiatives undertaken, environmental interaction between the two countries is of potential interest to politicians, political scientists and lawyers of the two countries. To date, the political-legal component of this issue is little studied, which is a prerequisite for the study of this issue in the political and legal planes.
