Abstract:
This study discusses a strengths-based approach to literacy, stressing the importance of creating a developmentally engaging curriculum that includes books, oral storytelling, personal journals, drawings, and writings. The goal is to guide teachers on how to use the cultural and linguistic strengths the preschool children of color have in order to support their literacies.
