Abstract:
The article analyzes the pros and cons of various objective and subjective methods for comparing the well-being of different types. The emphasis is on taking into account individual preferences and specializations. While many conceptual and practical difficulties remain, it seems possible to develop methods for assessing the collective well-being of multispecies communities and ecosystems.
