Abstract:
How is racism negotiated by those who are otherwise victims of racism? Social psychologists show the relevance of categorization in negotiating racism. In the present article I focus on a setting where the majority group itself can be considered a target of racism. I examine how victim categorization of the majority group is developed and used through a membership categorization analysis of broadcast media news debates.
