Abstract:
The article analyzes the features of authoritarian regimes. The research methodology is based on a series of experiments conducted in China. The study involved 5375 Chinese. The results show that empty threats and commitments are subjecting the Chinese government to severe disapproval from citizens worried about the potential damage to Chinas international reputation. Additional qualitative evidence suggests that Chinese citizens are willing to voice their displeasure with leaders gross foreign policy mistakes through various channels.
