Abstract:
The article examines the motives of a representative sample of older people in the cities of Milan and Genoa who refuse to travel and activities due to the perceived inadequacy of local public transport. Multivariate logistic regression models are used to examine whether intra-urban mobility denial is associated with: i) older population demographics, health status, and modes of transport; ii) perceived satisfaction with both local public transport and the neighborhood (“aging in place”); c) city of residence.
